2012 Antarctic Research Team
The 2012 Antarctic Research team will depart for Palmer Station, Antarctica on December 26, 2011 and return in mid-February. The five member team is composed of scientists from Miami University, Ohio State University, and a public school educator.   The team will research the largest land animal in Antarctica...a wingless fly!   Upon their return, further research on how this insect survives polar conditions will be conducted in their university labs.  The research is funded by the National Science Foundation.
